Lullaby by Sophie Barker

Bedtime can be a stressful occasion for Tots and Parents alike, so whats the answer? Little Tot has been trying a new CD called Lullaby....

Lullaby has been created by Sophie Barker (of Zero 7) and producer KK, who has worked with a roll call of musicians from Dido to Brian Eno. So both have a good background in sleepy chilled music for adults.

The idea behind the project was Sophie's sadness at the lost art of singing traditional lulabys to children, and that instead, modern parents draw inspiration from the Top 40, if they sing to their children at all.

The CD is beautifully presented to look like a hard back book, with lovely illustrations inside, and as an added bonus for those who cannot remember words to long forgotten nursery rhymes, all the words are printed in there too!

The album contains 18 songs, all with the same quality of musical accompaniment, as well as Sophie's beautiful, calming voice.

Little Tot loved this- rather than screaming and moaning for 10 minutes and falling into a sobby sleep, he laid in bed, and calmly listened, nodding off by track 4 every time. It worked just as well if he woke up in the night.

The CD is dangerous to adults- I have nodded off listening to it playing! As the Booklet says, its not advisable to operate heavy machinery whilst listening!

The project (as we are promised more to come in the future) sums itself up with this statement- "Never let go of your dreams, reach for the stars and never give up, you can be anything you want to be, you can do anything, this world is yours!"

A beautiful sentiment to accompany a beautiful CD, and a happy break from the over shouty discs out at the moment.
