It's not just food, and toys that we all want to make for a perfect Christmas- a good family friendly film can also add to the fun too! The Smurfs 2 will be available on DVD and blu-ray from Monday.

In our house, cold and rain means settling in to hibernate, save for the odd mercy dash for food shopping! So, boredom can quickly set in. DVDs are a great way to curb that boredom and bring the sometimes expensive cinema trip to our own home.

The Smurfs is something all of us have grown up with in different eras, it was around in Elder's younger days, and I recall my parent's collecting the Smurfs figures when they bought their petrol. Now, it's been given a celeb voiced re-boot for Littlest and Mini to enjoy.

The Smurfs is a colourful adventure ride, that we enjoyed together, striking the right balance between kid friendly peril and jokes and jokes that adults also found funny without offending younger ears.

Neil Patrick-Harris- already hilarious in How I Met Your Mother is perfect to voice the human friend the Smurfs call on t help them fight Gargamel's latest Smurf harming ploy, and Katy Perry is bang on target as adorable Smurfette (and no doubt will be a welcome inclusion for Dads!).

Mini especially enjoyed the film, and was on the edge of her seat rooting for the little blue dudes (as Littlest has taken to naming them!).

If the cold and rainy of winter is meaning you are stuck in doors, The Smurfs 2 is a definite recommendation for the whole family to snuggle up with popcorn and a slanket.

The Smurfs 2 is available on DVD and Blu-Ray from Monday for around £12
