GUEST REVIEW: Aldi Ski Wear Launch

It's cold outside folks, so what better thing to review than budget priced ski wear from Aldi. We sent well known blogger and London Dweller New Mum Online to The Ice Bar to check out the goods......

So what Mum wouldn't want to lose that Monday feeling by heading off to the big smoke, to drink free cocktails in the middle of the afternoon, while little one is having lots of fun elsewhere.
I was heading off to view the Aldi Ski Range prior to its much anticipated launch this Thursday.  I am told there will be queues and you only have to look at the hardcore Ski folk who are tweeting about it to believe this will be the case.
If you fancy grabbing some for the imminent cold snap, then I suggest you get in line with the Skiiers as it'll be first come first served. It'll be sold as part of Aldi's infamous SpecialBuy range, so when it's gone it's gone!
The quality is great, the prices are low.  Not often that happens.  Even The Telegraph is talking about it!  Just to make sure I could authentically tell you how great the range is, I got to wear the Salopettes, Ski Jacket and gloves IN London's Ice Bar.  During 40 minutes where the temperature fluctuated from -5 to -7 degrees, the Ski Wear kept me warm on the outside whilst Aldi's Irish Cream, Ballycastle, kept me warm on the inside.  We forgot to put the range's boots on, so everyone else's tootsie's were cold, but I had fab German sheepskin-lined boots on, so my toes were lovely and snug!  Aldi's PR team had to deliver drinks to the venue 3 days before, as nothing that's not cold is allowed in the Ice Bar, apart from us hot things obviously!  The ice is transparent, and so pure, because it is imported from Sweden.  I was fascinated staring at it, like an ice geek! Would be a dream come true to go to the hotel!

The Aldi Junior snowsuit for 12 months to 3 years is gorgeous, great quality and a snap at £9.99.  The kids snow boots that I was allowed to take away yesterday, for Aaron are a snap at £8.99, lovely with fur lining and great foot grips.
Here's what they say:

Infant and Junior Snowsuits £9.99 - super warm with a Teflon coating, the younger members of the family can get to grips with the snow in this super cute but practical snowsuit.  So, even if you're not hitting the slopes this year, you can ensure the children are as snug as a bug when the British winter freeze kicks in.

Girl's and Boy's Snow Boots, £8.99 - There'll be no frozen toes in these cosy, warm and waterproof winter boots. With a warm inner fleece and reflective detail, junior snow lovers can be toasty warm while enjoying the weather!

The ladies jacket I am modelling in these photos, is a large and fits me, despite me being between a 16-18 dress size (UK).  I wasn't so lucky getting my fat ass into the ladies large Salopettes so had to make do with men's.  Aldi were very kind, as I got to keep my outfit, once I took it off after my 40 minutes in the Ice Bar.  If I manage to get to an Aldi's this Thursday it is the beautiful merino thermals that I will be keeping my beady eye out for.  I also have my eye on the children's ski socks.  If you have a store near you, then lucky you. You know what to do!

We didn't get to see them but I am told there will be two-way radios (for the ski slopes) at a reasonable £24.99 and audio earmuffs at just £6.99.  There's even a high spec HD action camcorder for just £89.99.
Aldi's philosophy is to offer high quality, brand-like products at everyday low prices that shoppers can trust. They've certainly done it with this range and their alcohol.  Already this year Aldi's beers, wines and spirits range has received 100 accolades from internationally recognised competitions, including 33 awards at the International Wine Challenge 2013, 35 awards at the International Wine and Spirits competition 2013 and 14 awards at the International Spirits Challenge 2013.  So if you want to stock up the alcohol cupboard at affordable prices for Xmas and New Year, you now know where to go!  Having tasted their Ballycastle yesterday I can tell you it IS as good as the market leader and that's an Irish lass telling you that!
